We exist to Glorify God. Equip Believers. Make Disciples.

Mission Statement - We exist to:

1. Glorify God

a. Everything we do at NLC is centered on glorifying God. We seek Him and all he can do through us and in us. (Mt. 16:18, John 17:9-10, 22)

2. Equip Believers

a. We are all disciples of Jesus Christ, seeking to grow spiritually. We believe that the church is the primary place where believers in Christ are to be equipped for their spiritual journeys toward Christian maturity . (Ephesians 4:1-16)

3. Make Disciples

We are all about making disciples at New Life Church- both in going ‘out’ into the world to encounter ‘not-yet’ believers and lead them to faith in Christ, but also to walk alongside seekers that come to our church and help them learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Vision Statement - We will glorify God when:

1. The Lost are Found

a. At New Life Church we want to be outward focused. We want to be active and present within our communities (Here, Near and Far Away). We want to rub shoulders with those in our world that are spiritually lost, disillusioned with our world and life without God. This focus comes from the very heart of God Himself who loved the world and sent his one and only Son… (Luke 15, Luke 19:10).

2. Disciples are Made

a. We are committed to discipling relationships at New Life Church. Discipling ministries fall under the umbrella of equipping ministries, but whereas equipping often is more like classes and courses, with a larger number of people, discipling takes place in 1-1 relationships. It is simply two different Christ-followers coming alongside one another doing spiritual good to one another, and helping each other in their respective spiritual journeys. (Luke 5)

3. Believers are Equipped

a. Paul tells us in Ephesians 4 that pastors and teachers are to equip the saints. What this looks like at New Life Church is that we offer classes and courses that give instruction and guidance on Christian basics and doctrine. (Ephesians 4; 1 Cor. 12:4-6, 1 Peter 4:10-11)

4. Lives are Transformed

a. This is what the Bible calls sanctification. We believe that as people have genuine encounters with Jesus and the Holy Spirit is at work in a person’s life, that their life will be transformed. And as we go to the lost, and make disciples and equip believers, the inevitable result will be that lives are being transformed by the power of God. (Colossians 3:1-17)

5. Families are Nurtured

a. Here at New Life Church, we know it is not easy raising children. It is hard, never-ending work. And the culture in which our kids are growing up, what they are being taught in schools and seeing on social media does not make this God-given responsibility any easier to raise your children to be Jesus-followers for the duration of their lives. So, we want to help you learn how to be the best husbands and wives, fathers and mothers you can be. (Deut. 4:9; Ps. 78:5-7)

6. People are Loved

a. We have a three-pronged strategy when it comes to loving and serving others. We want to have impact and influence Here, Near and Far Away. When we say that we envision our church to be a church where ‘People are Loved’, this specifically refers to loving those within this church body. We seek to know each other, love each other, serve each other and practice the many other ‘one another’ commands in the Scriptures. (John 13:34)

7. Our World is Engaged

a. With this statement, we focus on those that are Near and those that are Far Away. We want to be a church on the go, focusing outward into our communities. So Near refers to our immediate local communities of Mount Pleasant and Shepherd, Mid-Michigan and perhaps even parts of the Midwest. While Far Away refers to opportunities that serve those in other nations, in other social settings where people are in need and do not know Jesus. This would include supporting missionaries around the globe and participating in short term mission trips. (Matthew 25:31-46)
